Azercosmos entered into a partnership agreement with Globecast to increase capacity and coverage across Africa. As a result of this agreement, Globecast can supply its customers in Africa with increased C-band capacity on the Azerspace-1 satellite.

Globecast’s platforms and customers can now receive signals from the Azerspace-1 satellite and provide general entertainment, news, sports and special events coverage to viewers across the African region. The feeds are being uplinked in Nigeria and downlinked by both Multichoice and Globecast, the latter for redundancy.

“The high-quality coverage provided by the Azerspace-1 satellite is central to our partnership, alongside the technical support we receive. This cooperation provides increased opportunities and flexibility for our customers,” said Jacques Andreou, engineering manager at Globecast.

“Globecast’s adaptable and innovative approach to the market is an important part of our service offering and allows us to achieve great success across Africa,” said Mark Guthrie, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Azercosmos.
