Channel Cat to celebrate 30 years of magic on the Mississippi

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - The Channel Cat is set to celebrate 30 years of magic on the Mississippi River at the end of May.
On May 23, at 10 a.m. at the John Deere Commons, behind the Wyndham Hotel, 1415 River Drive, a celebration will be held to commemorate 30 years of the Channel Cat providing river taxi service in the Quad Cities.
The celebration will include the following.
Special recognitions honoring:
- River Action’s Kathy Wine and MetroLINK’s Jeff Nelson for their roles in making the Channel Cat a gateway to exploring the Mississippi
Federal, state and local support including:
- Statements and resolutions from federal, state, and local elected officials regarding the Channel Cat’s lasting value to our riverfront and impact to our community
Project updates:
- Recognizing improvements to the Moline riverfront bike path as well as plans for new docks in Davenport and East Moline and the future of eclectic ferries
Treasure chest giveaway:
- A prize basket worth more than $1,500 packed with amazing local goods, services and will be awarded to a lucky entrant in the giveaway
