Operation Sindoor airspace closure: Several Asian airlines said on Wednesday have either been re-routed or cancelled flights within India. Atleast 20 flights have been cancelled due to closure of airports in Amritsar, Jammu, Leh and Chandigarh among other states. As northern India closes majority of its commercial flights in border areas such as Rajkot, Bikaner and Jodhpur, multiple international airlines have re-routed their flights avoiding to fly over the Indo-Pak airspace. While Pakistan has not closed their airspace internationally, a solo-flight traverses Lahore.
As per FlyRadar24, more than two dozen commercial flights were diverted to avoid Pakistan airspace. Taiwan’s EVA Air said that it will adjust its flights to and from Europe to avoid airspace affected by the fighting between India and Pakistan for safety reasons. Their Vienna-Dubai flight was diverted back to Vienna as it proceeded to avoid the Pakistan airspace.
Our most tracked flight right now: the lone flight traversing Pakistan. Based on NOTAMs, Pakistan has not closed its airspace, but there continue to be multiple airways unavailable to traffic. https://t.co/mQoh5wnOer pic.twitter.com/BJxwQkQl5B

The lone flight traversing Pakistan shows how the reduced the airways are unavailable to traffic. More than 50 international flights were cancelled to and from the country. Instead, airlines like Vietjet, Korean Air, Air-France are preferring the southern-route that flies over Myanmar, Bangladesh and India.
Flight delay warning prevails
Since international flights will be re-routed to take longer routes, avoiding the Pakistan airspace, delays and layovers are more than likely. As Indo-Pak geopolitical tensions increase, the China Airlines non-stop flight to London had been cancelled.
Some flights from India to Europe were also seen taking longer routes. Lufthansa flight LH761 from Delhi to Frankfurt turned right towards the Arabian Sea near the western Indian city of Surat, taking a longer path compared to Tuesday, according to FlightRadar24.
As per sources at the Delhi Airport headquarters, there are minor delays in the flights but SpiceJet flights to Haj remain grounded. Due to airport closures in Srinagar and Jammu, airlines like Indigo, Air India, and Spicejet have cancelled their flight to and from the states.
