HOUSTON - A woman armed with a gun has camped out in the main lanes of a Houston highway after her involvement in a traffic crash.

A heavy police presence occurred near I-45 and Cypresswood Drive on Thursday.

According to Mark Herman of the Harris County Constable Precinct 4, deputies were alerted to a woman armed with a weapon standing in the main lanes of the freeway following her involvement in a traffic crash. The woman reportedly refused to comply with officers’ commands and has not dropped the weapon.

As a result, both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-45 have been shut down, causing traffic delays in the area. Authorities urge drivers to avoid the area while the situation remains active.

This is a developing story. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
